Movies in Another Language

As a beginner German student, my professor has suggested that I watch movies in German in order to become more associated with the language. I decided to go for movies that I already knew so that I'd have some idea of what is going on. That's right... I own the Star Wars and LotR trilogies in German.

What I find interesting is that I laughed at parts of Star Wars that aren't supposed to be funny, just because the voice-overs sound somewhat lame/ridiculous. But LotR is awesome in German. I don't know if it's a better quality of voice actors, or what.

So... what's everyone else's take on films dubbed in other languages? Unintentionally funny, or what?
